Becoming a Big Girl

Abby has been doing great with all the changes around the house (meaning Alexis). She takes her sister's crying in stride and tries to comfort her, sometimes by asking to hold her, other times by rocking the car seat and even by trying to give her the pacifier. It is adorable.

We are working on potty training. since she was about 18-20 months old, she has been saying potty and asking to sit. We've been letting her go at her own pace and not forcing the issue because she was so young. While I was on maternity leave, I would let her run around the house bottomless and she did an absolutely wonderful job of staying dry. I could probably count on one hand the number of accidents she had while half naked. However, once you would put underwear or a diaper on her, it was all over. She would inevitably pee within 5 minutes.

When talking with her daycare teacher last Friday, she suggested we start sending her in underwear just to see what happened. So we did. Day 1 saw two accidents, neither of which was really her fault. One happened during nap time and the other was while she was in line to use the bathroom. That last one made me feel very bad for her because her teacher said she was holding her legs together and squeezing her little cheeks trying to keep it in, but she just couldn't. :( Day two saw two accidents as well - one while she was playing outside and the other was when a different teacher was in the classroom and thought she was in a diaper, so she didn't take her to the bathroom with the other kids. Days three and four = ACCIDENT FREE!!! I'm hoping she can keep it up!

The cutest thing Abby has been doing recently is singing songs. For a long time, she has been singing along to her cd's, but just recently she has begun singing them from memory. It is the cutest thing ever. Her favorites are Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and Pop Goes the Weasel. I'll have to try and get some of her singing on video this weekend.

Her lyrics to Take Me Out to the Ball Game:
Take me out ball game
Take me out crowd
Buy crackerjack
Don't care back
Root, root, root home team
Don't shame
One, two, three strikes out
Old ball game!
